• Dr Michael Mak graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2007, and became a specialist in Orthopaedics and Traumatology in 2014. He further specialized in hand surgery since 2015. • Current Position: Consultant in the Department of Orthopaedics in the Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong. • With a special interest in hand and wrist surgery and biomechanics, he was a recipient of the 2017 Hand and Wrist Biomechanics International Scholarship Award, and Best Paper Award in 2017 Annual Congress of Hong Kong Society of Hand Surgery. He developed a technique of using computer navigation to increase accuracy of scaphoid malunion and non-union correction which was presented in the Annual Meeting of CAOS 2017. • His work in Computer planning and simulation in forearm deformities was awarded Best Paper in Paediatric Orthopaedics in the 2020 Annual Congress of the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association. • Having an interest in musician’s hand conditions, he organized a symposium in Hong Kong on musician’s hand disorders ‘Dystonia and Beyond’ in 2017, and has since been invited to speak on this topic in FESSH and APFSSH, in which he chaired a session on ‘The Musician’s Hand’ in 2020.
