Dr. Emmanuel “Estee” Estrella practices orthopedic surgery, specializing in Hand Surgery and Reconstructive Microsurgery. Among his academic positions, he is currently a Research Professor, and Deputy Director of the Institute of Clinical Epidemiology of the National Institutes of Health at the University of the Philippines - Manila. He is also a Clinical Professor in the Departments of Clinical Epidemiology and Department of Orthopedics of the UP College of Medicine. He finished his orthopedic training at the University of the Philippines – Philippine General Hospital. He went for further training in Hand Surgery & Wrist Arthroscopy at the Chinese University of Hong Kong Prince of Wales Hospital under Prof. LK Hung & Dr. PC Ho. He also trained in Microsurgery and Brachial Plexus Surgery at the Ogori Daiichi General Hospital in Japan under Dr. Kazuteru Doi & Dr. Yasunori Hattori. Dr. Estrella’s interests are in brachial plexus, nerve microsurgery and flap reconstruction. He is a member of the Liver Transplant team of The Medical City Liver Center, Philippines. Dr. Estrella is currently the head of the Microsurgery Unit also of the Department of Orthopedics. He is the head of the Research Committee and Hand and Microsurgery Service of the Department of Orthopaedics, The Medical City. He is head of the Hand and Microsurgery Service of the Institute of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at the St. Lukes Medical Center, Global City Taguig.
