Janice Liao
Dr Janice Liao is in full-time clinical practice in both National University Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital in Singapore. She completed her specialist training in Hand Surgery in 2019 and was awarded the College of Surgeons Gold Medal in Hand Surgery. Her main clinical interest is in treatment of acute hand and wrist injuries including sports injuries as well as compressive neuropathy. In addition to her passion in hand surgery, she is also interested in medical education. She is currently appointed as the Director of the Microsurgical Training Laboratory which provides microsurgical courses to our trainees and many surgeons around the world. She is also the Core Faculty of NUHS Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program and is working on simulation models to improve surgical training. She was the runner up for best research paper in 2015 and winner of best research poster in 2019 both awarded by the Singapore Society for surgery of the Hand. Dr Janice Liao was born in Taiwan and raised in New Zealand. She completed her MBBS in Australia and worked for 2 years before relocating to Singapore. Outside of work her two active, happy and loving sons bring her joy. She is an avid sports player and was the captain of the university table tennis team winning gold at the Eastern University Championship. These unique experiences and multicultural upbringing provided her with varying perspectives to see life and health care.
