Scaphoid fractures are common wrist injuries in our daily clinical practices. Most of the hand surgeons can afford acceptable bone union chances for patients especially after adequate surgical interventions. But in some situations, some patient still suffered from painful scaphoid nonunion due to neglected diagnosis or inadequate surgical treatment. For those patients with scaphoid nonunion, the further surgical treatment would become challenging works for hand surgeons. The optimal surgical options for scaphoid nonunion would be diverted depending on the surgeon’s techniques and experiences.

In this presentation, we will provide an overview of a retrospective study in our own clinical practices for 86 cases of scaphoid nonunion treated with pedicle vascularized bone graft procedure. The resources of supplied vessels may come from 1-2, or 2-3 intercompartment supra-retineculum vessel systems. The comparisons of clinical results of bone union situations and functional results were be done between these two different vessel systems.

This present will also provide a brief lecture review for discussions of the optional surgical options for the treatment of scaphoid nonunion.
