Dr. Jong Woong Park, M.D., Ph.D., is a Professor of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Hand Surgery and Reconstructive Microsurgery at Korea University Medicine, SEOUL, KOREA. Prof. Park received his MD degree from Korea University in 1989. He continued his education with a Ph.D. in Medical Science from the same institution in 1998. He completed his internship and residency in the department of orthopedic surgery at Korea University Anam Hospital from 1990 to 1994. He then completed a hand and microsurgery fellowship at the same institution from 1997 to 1999. Dr. Park also finished a research fellowship in the department of orthopedic surgery at Duke University in USA from 2002 to 2004. Dr. Park has been a full-time faculty at the College of Medicine Korea University since 1999 and is currently a Professor at the Korea University Medicine. Dr. Park has been certified and licensed by the Korean Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Korean Board of Hand Surgery, the Korean Board of Sports Medicine, and the Korean Board of Traumatology. He has served as a president of the Korean Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Korean Fracture Society, and the Association of Korean Peripheral Nerve Surgery. He is also a member of the AOTrauma faculty and the International Bone Research Association Dr. Park's research interests include bone and soft tissue reconstruction, bionics and human-machine interface, innovative bio-medical material and device development, peripheral nerve reconstruction and regeneration, and ischemia and reperfusion injury. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers and 22 book chapters in these areas and presented his work at many national and international conferences.
