Alvin Chao-Yu Chen, born on August 31, 1963, in Cha-I, Taiwan, is a distinguished figure in the field of orthopedic surgery. The journey into medicine commenced at China Medical University, Taichung, Taiwan, where Dr. Chen pursued the medical education 1981-1988. Postgraduate careers include military service residency 1988-1990, orthopedic residency in Chang Gung Memorial Hospital 1990-1995 and subspecialty fellowship in Massachusetts General Hospital 2001-2002. Orthopedic visiting staff starts since 1995, through various academic positions and becomes Professor in Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and University. Dr. Chen's professional engagements extend beyond clinical practice. He has been actively involved in numerous professional organizations, assuming leadership roles such as Executive director of AOTrauma Asian Pacific Board and Country Council, Executive Director of the Taiwan Orthopaedic Trauma Association, Executive Director of the Taiwan Shoulder and Elbow Society and Executive supervisor of Computer-assisted Orthopedic Surgery. During 2010-2012, Dr. Chen serves as the 11th President of Taiwan Society for Surgery of the Hand, and a senior consultant afterwards. An avid researcher, Dr. Chen has authored an impressive number of journal articles, with over 136 publications to his credit. His research covers a wide array of topics within orthopedic surgery, including hand surgery, shoulder and elbow injuries, knee reconstruction, and bone healing processes.
